Well this Venice, took a ridiculous amount of pictures so I had to cut out a bunch but I think this will do

Rialto Market This is a famous market in Venice where they sell fresh fruit and fish caught right next door.

Massive Swordfish

Ca d'Oro ^

St. Glacomento Church right near our hostel next to the Rialto Market

Mask/Costume Store for Carnivale

"Chiesa di S. Salvador" (Church of Saint Salvador)

First Gondola Sighting

Where we would later get our gondola ride

Campanile Tower
Which we later took the elevator to the top for the best view in all of Venice

St. Mark's Basilica

One of the only cities in Italy where feeding rats with wings is legal, pretty disgusting

Like 15 degrees, my excuse for wearing a scarf

The Crew

"Torre dell'Orologio" (The Clock Tower in St. Mark's Square)

Inside St. Mark's Basilica
The Ceiling is completely covered with gold

Pictures from upstairs which is half a museum

View from St. Mark's Basilica's Balcony

Palazzo Ducale

The Deposition of Christ- Murano blown glass sculpture by Archimede Seguso

Calice dei Patriarchi (Chalice of the Patriarchs) made out of silver gold, pearls, precious stones and rocks of crystal

View from the Campanile Tower
It is the best view in all of Venice and the windiest

Set-up for Carnivale in St. Mark's Square

St. Mark's Square from up high

Palazzo Ducale

Bridge of SighsIt was called this because this is where prisoners were brought over/inside before they brought to the prison inside across from the palace.  (palace on the left, prison on the right)

Couple getting married in front of Palazzo Ducale, I have more pictures from inside the Palace but I have to steal them from Nick later, because my battery was dying

Christiano our Gondolier
Apparently he gave a tour to Roger Moore when he came to the city and has been doing this for 33 years, the man we spoke to said he is the Al Pacino of the Gondoliers

Marco Polo's House

Our first meal, Fabian and Nick got the mixed seafood dish ^

I, the typical American, got the mixed fried dish which was incredible because everything in Venice is fresh from the sea, regardless of the fact it was fried

Spaghetti with Calamari and squid ink, actually very good

St. Polo Piazza at night including an ice rink in the center

Bridge of fists including the two pictures below

Apparently this is the bridge which the two sides of Venice would fight and the feet symbolize where they would stand and the loser would be tossed into the river

Dinner in Venice

Nick's Dish - Clams, Mussels, and Shrimp and a few other things

My dish- Shrimp and Salmon with bowties...absolutely amazing

Fabian's dish pasta with swordfish.  I tried some it was very very good

Forgot to take a picture right away but this is the 2nd dish and from the dish description it was venetian fish served in oil, absolutely amazing

Nick and Fabian's second dish, mixed fried seafood

Venice is the birthplace of Tira Misu so we had to get it

Went to a bar that night and apparently a bunch of college students go there and put their school, or home's name on the black light board.  So I put up one for St. John's

Last Morning, Walking towards the Train Station

  2. I am extremely envious! I love the pictures.... especially of Marco Polo!

Will loved the gondolas, but the bloody fish was a bit too much... nobody needs to see Nemo's buddies on ice! --Sue
